 What is Cancer?

Cancer has affected more than 100 countries worldwide. It might develop anywhere in the body. It is a disease in which the cells start to grow uncontrollably. When these cells mix up they form tumors. A cancerous tumor (malignant) is so dangerous that it might spread to all parts of the body, while a benign tumor does not spread. Usually, human body cells form new cells when the previous ones become damaged or dead. But sometimes this process gets disturbed and abnormal or damaged cells are born.

 

Different types of cancer

Different types of cancer might develop in the human body and are stated as follows:

 

Leukemia:

                     It develops in the blood-forming tissue in the bone marrow

Lymphoma: 

                       It develops in lymphocytes

Multiple myeloma:

                                   It develops in plasma cells

Sarcoma: 

                 It is developed in bone and soft tissues

Carcinoma:

                     It is developed in epithelial cells

 

How cancer can be developed?

Cancer is a genetic disorder that is caused by changes caused in genes:


Smoking helps you adopt this dangerous disease

It might occur due to family history

Different viruses like Epstein-Barr virus, HIV, etc. can also cause cancer

Excess body weight also leads to cancer

Some bacteria and parasites may also lead to it

Radiation has also engaged many people in this disease

Organ transplant is also a common cause of it

Trauma also causes cancer

It is mostly found in old age peoples

Alcohol consumption is also a common cause

 

What are the symptoms of Cancer?

Symptoms of cancer depend upon which part of the body is effected

 

Fatigue might be a serious symptom of cancer

Weight might also change (loss or gain) during cancer

Skin changes like yellowing, redness, sores, or changes to the outstanding mole might happen

The patient might have a Cough or difficulty breath

Difficulty in swallowing

Change in voice

Indigestion or feeling discomfortable after eating

Rare muscle or joint pain

Fever

Bleeding in the affected part of the body

Vision or hearing disorder might occur in the patient

The body might lack red blood cells (anemia)

 

What are the treatments for cancer?

Cancer can be treated in various ways:

 

Surgery is a very good treatment for cancer

Chemotherapy in which drugs are used to get rid of cancer cells

Using radiation therapy

Transplant of bone marrow

Immunotherapy is also used in its treatment

Hormones are used to kill cancerous cells

The killing of cancer with a cold is called Cryoablation

Electrical energy is also used for its treatment and it is called radiofrequency ablation

 
How cancer can still be dangerous even if it is gone?

 

The patient might still have dental or oral problems

It might leave behind diabetes

The patient might adopt hypothyroidism

Inability to control urine

The problem in remembering and learning things

Pain in joints
