What is Panic Disorder?

 Panic disorder can be an anxiety disorder, during this disorder the person experiences sudden attacks of fear and panic.

It is possible that every person can experience the feeling of stress and anxiety at certain times. It is a severe type of anxiety. It may go from mild to severe. It cannot harm physically, it might be frightened but not dangerous. It mostly occurs in late teens and early adulthood. According to the study, it occurs mostly in women than men. Usually occurs unexpectedly. And its duration of occurrence is less than 10 minutes.

What are the Symptoms of panic disorder: 

Some signs explore the symptoms of Panic. The person may experience frightening and distressing panic attacks.

  • rapid heartbeat
  • feels like sweating faintness, dizziness, numbness, pins, and needles.
  • maybe experiencing chest pain, a fear of dying, suddenly need to go to the toilet, tingling in the fingers
  •  may be having shaky limbs or a dry mouth.
  • possible to feel like not connected to the body.


What are the Causes of panic disorder:

Some causes become a reason for panic attacks.

  • having any traumatic, stressful experience in life.
  • genetics
  • due to the death of any loved ones.
  • any serious accident
  • sometimes occurs due to any change in life like divorce, and the addition of a baby.
  • Having physical and sexual abuse in childhood which affects deeply and psychologically.
  • use of smoking 
  • having mental issues such as anxiety and depression.
  • maybe caused due to drug addictions



What are the Treatments for panic disorder:

There are some treatments which can be helpful for it.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy is one of the types of psychotherapy, that can be called talk therapy. In which thoughts and emotions are preferred to discuss with the licensed counselor and psychologist. It will prove helpful to identify the reason for panic attacks and which type of thoughts and feelings actually triggered panic attacks. If change the response to triggers, the attack can be decreased and possibly stopped.

  • Antidepressants are a type of medication that can be decreased the attacks. An antidepressant is actually a type of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Use it according to the psychiatrist and counselor. It is commonly considered the first choice to prevent future attacks.

  • Cognitive behavior therapy is a type of therapy in which many techniques are included that helps the person like relaxation is applied, discovered through imagery, panic management, breathing, breathing managing, and cognitive restructuring. If it's not proven helpful they recommend visiting mental health specialists like clinical psychologists and psychiatrists.
