What is Paralysis?
Paralysis is the inability to move some parts of your body and all of your body.
It can be serious but mostly depends on whether the cause is temporary or permanent.
According to research, 5.4 people have experienced paralysis.
What are the Symptoms of Paralysis:
Some symptoms of paralysis are given below
- the most important symbol of paralysis is that parts of the body can't move and sometimes the whole body cannot move. It can occur temporarily or permanently. Often, it comes temporary and for a while.
- paralysis can affect any part of the body such as
- can be affected the face or hands
- sometimes one arm or leg which called monoplegia.
- maybe one side of the body is called hemiplegia.
- occurs on both legs which are called paraplegia
- can be both arms and legs which is called tetraplegia and quadriplegia.
- the affected part of the body can experience numbness, pain, tingling in the limbs, and muscle spasms.
- can be Muscles cramps or sudden loss of muscle control.
What are the Major Causes of Paralysis:
Some major causes can be caused paralysis but don't try to identify the symptoms yourself always visit the doctor and ask about it.
- can be possible to feel sudden weakness on one side of the face or arm weakness which can be a stroke and Transient ischaemic attack.
- It can be caused due to bell's palsy which is sudden weakness on one side of the face with earache and sometimes occurs face pain.
- sleep paralyzes are sometimes caused by falling asleep and suddenly waking up but can't move. It is just temporary.
- paralysis can occur after any serious accident or injury such as a severe head injury or spinal cord injury.
- Can be caused due to brain tumors
- may occur due to weakness in the legs muscle dystrophy
- due to the spinal muscular atrophy and motor neuron
- can occur due to Guillain Barre syndrome in which paralysis in the legs can occur over the fave and arms over a few days.
- can be cerebral palsy ( paralysis from birth)
- maybe posted polio syndrome (paralysis starts after polio infection )
What are the Treatments of Paralysis:
There is no proper cure for permanent paralysis. The spinal cord cannot be healed. But on the other hand, temporary paralysis such as Bell's palsy can be cured with time without treatment. There are some treatments that can be proven beneficial.
- Physiotherapy is a helpful option to cure paralysis. It will help to maintain strength and muscle mass.
- Occupational therapy is another practical option of it. It should be adopted as home tasks which can be easy to adopt like dressing and cooking.
- The Medicine helps to get relieve pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, etc.
