Dark spots are usually known as age spots, hyperpigmentation, solar lentiginous, and liver spots. These spots appear light to dark, seem flat, and exist in an oval shape. It mainly occurs in the shape of a group. Dark spots can occur at any time in middle age. They usually appear on the skin due to the sunlight.

These are located on the skin due to the medication's side effects.

What are the symptoms of Dark Spot?

There are some symptoms of dark spots mentioned here. Usually, they are harmless, but at a certain time, they can be dangerous and occurs as cancerous.

According to the research, they can appear on any body part.

  • It can be on the face.
  • On the back surface of hands.
  • Can occur on the shoulders, back, and arms.

 
What are the Causes of Dark Spots?

  • They are produced due to the extra production of melanin, or a pigment that makes the skin dark. They can be caused due to some reasons.
  • Exposure to Sunlight is one of the major causes of them. Hyperpigmentation mostly occurs in middle age. If you did not use sun-protective products, then your skin must show the effects of sun exposure on the skin.
  • Skin Conditions can be one of the main reason of caused Dark Spots. Because the occurrence of Dark Spot depends on skin type, condition, and disease. There are some skin conditions and diseases mentioned here.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused skin discoloration.
  • Melasma is known as a pregnancy mask.
  • Linea nigra in which during pregnancy a dark vertical line occurs downward in the middle of the abdomen.
  • Riehl’s melanosis is caused due to sun exposure.
  • Poikiloderma of Civatte in which the part of the neck converted into the reddish-brown color.
  • Erythromelanosis follicularis in which face and neck both have reddish-brown pigmentation.

 

There are certain medications they are caused dark spots. Because they make the skin sensitive and are not able to sunlight.

  •  In which Estrogen is included like Vegifem, Climara, and Estrace.
  • Tetracyclines and Broad spectrum.
  • Amiodarone is used to cure irregular heartbeat.
  • Sulfonamides it is used to cure infections.
  • Phenothiazines it is used against mental and emotional disorder.

 

What are the preventions of Dark Spots?

Some ways can be beneficial against it. May be rid of it.

  •  Always be careful about the skin. Apply after every two hours sun-protecting products. And apply more rapidly if having a sweating problem.
  • Should be covered the skin with long sleeves and pants, and wear hats and sunglasses.
  • Should be more careful about the timing of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Because at that time there is greater sunlight exposure.

 

What are treatments for Dark Circles?

Some treatments can help with lightning and fading dark spots.

  • There are some with active gradients such as Kojic acid It is popular treatment against hyperpigmentation but its use depend on the skin type because somtimes it irritates the sensitive skin. 
  • Retinoids used for the production of new skin cells. It contains Vitamin A. Therefore should not use during pregnancy
  • Chemical exfolliants it is a acid that is used to help the dissolution of upper layer of skin, but can be increase skin sensitivity against sunlight.
  • Vitamin C and Azelaic acid also proves helpful for it. 

 They can occur in these specific conditions.

  • During pregnancy.
  • Having any Liver disease.
  • Can occur due to Addison’s disease.
  • It May reappears as Hemochromatosis.
